Potential New Arthritis & Back Pain Treatment - Tanezumab

Recent studies are showing that a new class of drug which targets a growth factor on nerves is promising for relief of chronic back pain and pain from arthritis.  The medication, called tanezumab, is given by systemic injection and results in improvement of pain lasting many months.  Although further investigation about possible side effects is ongoing, this new type of treatment promises to be a future option for millions of chronic pain sufferers.  New classes of medications to relieve chronic pain are sorely needed as many currently available drugs have side effects of sedation, dizziness, or risks of addiction.
